Brilliant!

I stumbled across your website as I was following a link trail about Sally Lunn (with hot chocolate, used to be our family's New Year's Eve traditional dinner)... I love your basics - they make good sense; and as someone who has cooked since I was eight, but never taken the time to get formal training... I'm going to put each and every tip to good use.

And this one, in particular - so simple, but I bet it works perfectly.

Thanks for a wonderful site!

I don't usually wash it first, actually. If you have really dirty ginger, you could peel it first and then give it a rinse, just to be safe!

Do you wash the ginger first? Sometimes when I wash the ginger it makes it more difficult to peal with a spoon.
